Bill Elkington is the driving force behind JV Driver Group’s remarkable journey. As Founder, he has been instrumental in transforming the company from a small contractor on Vancouver Island in 1989 into the large and diverse group of companies it is today. With a significant presence spanning Canada, the USA, and international markets, Bill’s visionary leadership and innovative thinking have been catalysts for the company’s extraordinary growth and success. Bill, now serving as Executive Chair for JV Driver Investments, plays a pivotal role in supporting the company’s strategic direction while working closely with a dedicated team of shareholders.

Chuck Sanders  

President and CEO

As the President and CEO of JV Driver Investments, Chuck Sanders is responsible for the company’s global portfolio and operations. Chuck is also a member of the JV Driver Investments Board of Directors.  Working with our Executive leaders across the portfolio, his leadership extends to every facet of the organization, from strategy, opportunity acquisition, governance, leadership development and operational execution. 

Professional Journey: Chuck started out on his professional journey in a rural blue-collar community, working from the age of 10 he gained practical skills and an appreciation for hard work. He took an early interest in business, acquiring diverse leadership skills and experience throughout his upbringing.

His tenure began as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with JV Driver, where he exhibited a deep understanding of finance, strategy and most importantly leadership as the single biggest success factor in business.  His journey from CFO to President & CEO speaks to his leadership qualities and his ability to work with others to bridge strategy and finance to practical execution and operations. 

Chuck has built his career as an experienced senior leader, gaining extensive business and financial acumen across a wide range of industries. His leadership as an investor, advisor, and operator have equipped him with a well-rounded perspective and depth of knowledge that he uses to develop and support other leaders across the portfolio.

Kyle Lewis  

VP and Managing Director

Kyle Lewis is a seasoned financial executive currently serving as the VP and Managing Director for JV Driver Investments. In his role, Kyle leads and oversees a spectrum of crucial functions, including corporate finance, investor relations, and directly managing three investment divisions. Known for his relentless focus on execution and a proven track record of turning strategic vision into tangible results, Kyle plays a pivotal role in supporting the group’s operations, transactions, and divisional operating teams by providing invaluable operations, financial and tax advice.

Professional Background: Kyle’s journey began with JV Driver in the fall of 2019, marking a significant chapter in his career. Prior to joining the group, he amassed over half a decade of experience in public practice, where he specialized in providing audit, tax, and advisory services to private companies within the construction and Oil & Gas industries. This background equipped him with a deep understanding of the complexities and intricacies of these sectors.

His professional repertoire includes extensive expertise in corporate finance, financial reporting, and tax planning, making him a trusted advisor within the organization. Kyle is recognized for his ability to navigate the financial landscape with precision, ensuring sound fiscal decisions that contribute to the overall success of the group.

Education and Professional Credentials: A Chartered Professional Accountant by qualification, Kyle Lewis holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta. His academic foundation, combined with practical experience, positions him as a dynamic leader in the group, driving JV Driver Investments towards new heights of financial excellence.

Laura Porret  

Managing Director of Leader Development and Governance

Laura Porret is a seasoned professional currently serving as the Managing Director of Leader Development and Governance at JV Driver Investments. In her role, Laura leads and oversees the organization’s learning and leadership development initiatives and supports its governance processes, ensuring that the organization upholds its commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.

Professional Background:  Laura joined JV Driver in February 2019, bringing with her over 25 years of experience in Human Resources, Learning and Leadership Development, and Administration. Her extensive background in these fields has equipped her with a deep understanding of adult learning principles and the intricacies of effective leadership development.

Throughout her career, Laura has demonstrated a remarkable ability to design and implement robust learning programs that cater to the unique needs of adult learners. Her strategic approach to leadership development has been instrumental in fostering a culture of growth and empowerment within the organizations she has worked with.

Education and Professional Credentials:  Laura attended Grant MacEwan University and Athabasca University to complete the Human Resources Management Program.  She is a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) and an active member of the Human Resource Institute of Alberta (HRIA). Her professional affiliations and certifications underscore her commitment to staying at the forefront of her field, continuously seeking to enhance her knowledge and skills to better serve her organization and its people.

Rachel Sanders  

Chief Financial Officer

Rachel Sanders is an integral part of the executive team at JV Driver Investments, where she serves as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and is responsible for overall financial management and risk oversight of our portfolio companies. Rachel oversees the governance and financial performance against the portfolio companies and their respective strategic plans.  Her role includes direct supervision of Finance and IT, ensuring the organization’s financial health and compliance within industry standards.

Professional Background: Rachel’s journey began with JV Driver Group in October 2016 when she joined as the CFO. Prior to that, Rachel had a distinguished career as a partner at Deloitte LLP, a renowned global professional services firm. With 18 years of experience servicing large privately held and publicly listed clients,  she brought a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her current role.

Rachel’s ability to navigate complex financial landscapes, coupled with her strong strategic and analytical skills, has enabled her to successfully lead and manage the financial risks associated with our diverse portfolio of companies. Throughout her career, Rachel has consistently demonstrated leaderships skills, guiding our finance team to achieve optimal financial performance across all of our business ventures. Her strategic mindset, coupled with a deep understanding of the various industries that we operate, allows her to identify and capitalize on various investment opportunities.  

Education and Professional Credentials: Rachel is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), a prestigious designation that reflects her commitment to the highest standards of financial expertise and ethics. In addition to her CPA designation, she is also a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) and reflects her commitment to upholding the highest level of corporate governance and ethical practices, while practically implemented. She earned her Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta, an institution known for its strong business and finance programs.

Michael Weber  

General Counsel

Michael Weber serves as General Counsel for JV Driver Investments, leading the group’s global legal function with an impressive array of responsibilities. In his pivotal role, Michael is entrusted with overseeing all aspects of corporate governance, leading M&A activities, navigating corporate finance matters, directing investments, skillfully negotiating material contracts, and resolving disputes. His comprehensive role underscores his significant impact on the organization’s operations and strategic direction.

A Trusted Advisor: As a member of the JVDI senior executive team, Michael plays a multifaceted role, serving as both a legal expert and a trusted business advisor to the CEO and the executive leadership. His dual perspective on legal and business matters enhances his ability to provide sound counsel and contribute to the company’s overall strategy.

Invaluable Legal Leadership: Michael’s role as General Counsel is central to ensuring JV Driver Investments can pursue strategic opportunities while balancing risk and maintaining a strong record of compliance. His legal acumen, combined with his dedication to the group’s success, makes him an invaluable member of the leadership team. Under his guidance, the group benefits from his comprehensive understanding of legal intricacies and his capacity to navigate the diverse industries in which the group operates. A Diverse Legal Experience: Before joining the in-house legal team, Michael honed his legal expertise in the M&A, corporate finance, and clean energy groups in the Vancouver office of McCarthy Tetrault LLP, a prominent national law firm. Michael’s journey with the JV Driver Group began when he left McCarthy Tetrault to practice at a smaller full service regional firm in Vancouver, at which he became JV Driver Group’s external corporate counsel where he represented the group as its business and construction counsel. This extensive experience equipped him with a broad and deep understanding of legal complexities in various industries.
